92 dave philley

Type 1 variation on 1959 Topps 92 Dave Philley.  Most commonly, there is a yellow hash mark above a black hash mark in the top left border.  These are probably registration marks.  For the full variation to appear on the card requires it to be substantially off center.  From a small population survey of examples, at least part of this variation appears on approximately 25% of cards.

Below is a raw and oddly cut card that shows more registration has marks at top left including magenta, yellow, and black.  On the back of the card and opposite the topmost marks is a green and black hashmark.

25 don hoak

Type 1 variation on 1959 Topps 25 Don Hoak.  On the back of the card there is a red spot in the border, approximately 1mm in diameter below and to the right of the AVG. column in the record box.  For the full variation to appear on the card requires it to be off center.  From a small population survey of examples, this variation appears on approximately 20% of cards.

I have seen this variation in a PSA 8 holder, but it is a pricey card (sold for $80 on March 13, 2014).

The “W” in “WASHINGTON”  shows a notch cut out of the letter, but this notch is present on all cards, as far as I have found.
